"Patriotism mean supporting your government during time of war"

Personally I feel that to be a patriot to your country does not mean you should feel obliged to support your Government during war. The definition of a patriot is someone who loves and defends their country with interest and devotion. I feel that by the time I die, as for everyone, they should do something that gives back to the country and support this country in someway. That does not mean i think the only option would be to go off to war and fight. But if there was to ever be a draft, I would not run away to Canada. I would either become a conscientious objector or join some non-violent branch of the military but I pray this will never happen. However don't say this country sucks because of our politicians and being a patriot means you support Bush or the republicans because to me being a patriot has nothing to do with them. Look at the history of our country and what it was founded for and be a patriot for that. Love your country and defend your country for what it is, not for who runs it.

"Reporters Should Submit Their Work To Government Officials so they may determine if it is a threat to the country."

This idea should not be excerised, especially in this country. Besides the point of freedom of speech in our first amendment it should not be an issue. If you were to publish an article saying you were going to blow up a building, then the gevernment would read it and then arrest you for admitting to a crime. However how can you physically or mentally harm another so much that the government would intervene. Sure you can humiliate another but is that a serious threat to our country.
In 1984, everything is proof read and re-written numerous times before publishing so no one can publish any controversial work. But everything to the party is considered a threat if it doesnt follow guidelines so its almost rediculous. In a society that is like oceania, the possibility of revolt from an article is more probable because of the absolute controll they endure but in a free country like the US there are enough free thinkers to oppose or disagree with a movement to keep it unsuccessfull.
